The New Becomes Historic in Los Angeles ~ Wednesday, July 21, 2010
LA's blue light rail line, resurrection of the Pacific Electric Long Beach line, turned 20 years old last week.
The Militant Angeleno, a blog combining urban history, exploration, and advocacy, has a nice post here (if you watch his video of the opening day, note that the trains start about 3/4 of the way through).

Admittedly I have unconventional ideas of tourism, but I recommend a ride on the line if you visit Los Angeles. The Watts Towers are an interesting midline destination.
