Nathan has a scooter, which we got secondhand somewhere we can't remember, but anyway, it's his favorite mode of transportation.


Unfortunately, it broke in a pretty dramatic way--the whole footplate broke off:

Nate was pretty sad.

But we got some supplies from the hardware store, went back to the workshop shed, and got to work.

The new footplate is a short piece of wood, and its held to the scooter's frame by U-shaped pipe claps, the kind you'd use to attach a pipe or electrical conduit to the outside of a wall.

It works!

Since we live conveniently close to tracks, we it even gets used for railfanning trips.
