Driving down to Lake Arrowhead in Southern California, we passed through Tehachapi and went to look at the loop.

Pretty soon a mixed train came into view (BNSF, upbound). Some modern intermodal trains are long enough to pass over themselves, this one just "chased its tail" around the loop.



There are a lot of directions to the loop posted on the web; our route was to get off the highway at the town of Keene, and just follow signs to the "point of historical interest".

The Loop is also the name of a free local newspaper, which has local interest stories and was kind of entertaining, worth picking up for some light reading at your next stop down the road.
